EXETER, N.H.— In a race that has tightened considerably in recent weeks, Sen. Maggie Hassan and her Republican challenger, Ret. Brigadier General Don Bolduc, made final pitches to New Hampshire voters.

“I was just talking to people about the stakes [of this election]…Democracy is on the ballot,” Hassan said after a campaign event Monday in Manchester.

Hassan has watched her sizeable lead vanish in the election’s final weeks, dropping from a nearly 9 point advantage on Oct. 2 to just a 2 point advantage on the eve of the election. Pollsters have labeled the race a toss-up, one that could go a long way towards deciding who controls the Senate in January.

“I feel real good. We’ve left it all out on the field,” Bolduc said after a campaign event at Exeter Town Hall.

Bolduc, a 60-year-old Laconia native who served ten tours in Afghanistan, has slammed Hassan and the Biden Administration for rising inflation and what he describes as failed economic policies.

But Hassan, seeking a second term, has tried to paint her opponent as too extreme after he falsely claimed the 2020 election was stolen. Bolduc has backed away from that stance since winning the primary in September.

“That election is in the past. I’m looking for the future. I’ve made all the comments about the 2020 election I’m ever going to make the rest of my life,” Bolduc said Monday. “I believe that tomorrow is the starting line. Maggie Hassan believes it’s the finish line. You know they run from election to election. This is just the beginning tomorrow,” Bolduc said.

“He is an election denier. That obviously is really concerning for a lot of reasons, but it really means he feels he doesn’t need to listen to the people of New Hampshire,” Hassan said.
