EAST BROOKFIELD, Mass. — As 2024 comes to a close, the Second Chance Animal Services has set a new record this year, assisting over 55,000 pets and animals.
The non-profit organization is extremely proud of this achievement, but also understands that there is a increasing demand for help, especially with the recent issues that shelters and families are facing due to the economy.
“It’s both inspiring and sobering.” said CEO and Founder Sheryl Blancato. “Inspiring because our supporters are helping us make such a difference and sobering because the demand for help keeps growing. Every day, we see firsthand the financial strain families are under and the toll it’s taking on pets.”
Second Chance has recently expanded their services to meet this demand, but with financial issues happening all over the nation, Blancato is asking animal lovers for help.
“Your support makes it all possible,” Blancato said. “Every dollar directly helps pets—whether it’s keeping a beloved pet with their family or saving the life of an animal in critical need. Together, we are transforming lives, one pet at a time.”
The non-profit has started a service called “Monthly Pet Pal Champions,” a monthly donation service for recurring donations.
If you would like to become a “Pet Pal” or to support the shelter in any way possible, visit www.secondchanceanimals.org. to donate or by mail to Second Chance, PO Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
