REVERE, Mass. — A Revere police officer arrested for operating under the influence and crashing into a wall over the weekend has resigned from his position, according to authorities.
24-year-old Matteo Velasquez was arrested for drunk driving and operating recklessly to endanger. He pleaded not guilty in court.
He resigned from the Revere Police Department on Tuesday after graduating from the academy two months ago.
On Sunday, police said Velasquez struck a brick retaining wall on Cushman Avenue just after 6 a.m., causing heavy damage to his vehicle. There were no reports of any injuries.
