Fore River Bridge reopens to traffic after getting stuck

QUINCY, Mass. — The Fore River Bridge in Quincy has reopened after it was closed both directions Tuesday evening when the bridge got stuck in the “up” position.

This is a key section of the commute for the South Shore and the closure caused major traffic backups on both sides.

MassDOT crews responded to the bridge and were able to repair it and get traffic flowing.

MBTA buses had to be rerouted due to the closure.

It’s unclear what caused the bridge to get stuck.
