HOLBROOK, Mass. — Multiple people were displaced after a fire tore through a multi-family home in Holbrook on Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews responding to a report of a blaze in the area of Union Street near Holbrook Square found the top of the home engulfed in flames, according to the Holbrook Police Department.

A photo shared by the department showed flames shooting from the roof and a thick plume of black smoke billowing into the air.

Firefighters on multiple ladder trucks have since knocked down the blaze but the roof of the home was totally burned away, and the upper floors appeared to be gutted.

Crews were able to rescue at least one cat from the flames.

“I’m just grateful they found the cat,” a resident of the home told reporters. “I can replace everything else.”

There were no reported injuries in the fire.

An investigation remains ongoing.
