DARTMOUTH, Mass — Crews battled a massive fire at what used to be the Hawthorne Country Club in Dartmouth Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the golf course on Tucker Road around 1:30 p.m., according to WPRI.

Dartmouth police shared photos of flames leaping from the roof of the structure.

The country club is not in use and has been closed since 2015. According to South Coast Today, a luxury home builder recently purchased the 56-acre property for $3 million.

Traffic was detoured up Allen Street while firefighters battled the flames.

It is unknown how the fire began or if anyone was on the premises at the time.
