As if the Patriots Super Bowl win doesn't have you fired up already, baseball is in the air.

It is Red Sox "Truck Day!"

On Monday, the Red Sox equipment truck will make the nearly 1,500-mile road trip down to the team's Spring Training facilities in Fort Myers, Florida.

The truck will load up at Fenway Park and leave for Florida around noon.

Truck Day has been a tradition for decades and marks the unofficial start to Spring Training.

For the last 21 years, Milford native Al Hartz has driven the truck and will do so again. He’ll be hauling more than 20,000 baseballs, 1,100 cases of bubble gum and 60 cases of sunflower seeds down to the sunshine state.

He'll also be driving the following baseball equipment and supplies on his 1,480-mile adventure:

  • 1,100 bats
  • 200 batting gloves
  • 200 batting helmets
  • 320 batting practice tops
  • 160 white game jerseys
  • 300 pairs of pants
  • 400 t-shirts & pairs of socks

The equipment truck will depart from Fenway Park on Van Ness Street, led by a flat-bed truck carrying Wally the Green Monster, his sister Tessie, and Fenway Ambassadors who will be handing out JetBlue collectible baseball card schedules filled with prizes and giving out soft Red Sox baseballs to fans.
