BRAINTREE, Mass. — After a long legal battle, Motel 6 is finally closing it's doors.

The Braintree motel where two police officers were shot at in May 2017 will permanently close after its owners stopped challenging the town.

Braintree Mayor Joe Sullivan tweeted on Wednesday saying, "Motel 6 is closed forever." Mayor Sullivan says the motel has been a problem in town for years.

On May 5, 2017, Motel 6, situated near the Union Street rotary made headlines after Officer Donald Delaney was shot while trying to serve a restraining order on 25-year-old Tizaya Jordan Robinson.

Officer Delaney was shot in the face and Robinson was killed in the shooting. Delaney has since recovered and been back on the job.
