BOSTON — The Cannabis Control Commission met Thursday for the first time since recreational sales began in the state and four more shops have been approved for final licenses.

The next shop given approval to sell is Alternative Therapies Group in Salem, but medical marijuana outfits in Fall River, Great Barrington, Hudson and Pittsfield have been given final licenses. Those shops will just need final inspection to green light operations.

Of 2,233 total license applications, the commission says 247 are pending and 140 have been withdrawn.

The commission signed off on the licenses for Northeast Alternatives, Temescal Wellness and Theory Wellness during a meeting Thursday at the Statehouse.

Northeast Alternatives applied for a retail license for Fall River. Theory Wellness wants to open a shop in Great Barrington. And Temescal Wellness is hoping to open shops in Hudson and Pittsfield.

The first two recreational marijuana shops on the U.S. East Coast opened last month in Leicester and Northampton.

Those two have generated more than $7 million in sales.
