A Massachusetts native has been laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. Flags across the Commonwealth flew at half-staff yesterday in honor of Army Sgt. 1st Class Eric Emond, the 39-year-old Massachusetts native who was killed in action in late November.
Emond, a married father of three, grew up in Fall River and later lived in Dorchester. He was a decorated soldier in the Special Forces. He was a three-time Bronze Star medal recipient and twice was awarded the Purple Heart.

Army Capt. Andrew Ross, 29, of Virginia and Air Force Staff Sgt. Dylan J. Elchin, 25, of Pennsylvania were also killed in the incident. Capt. Ross was laid to rest in Arlington on Tuesday while Staff Sgt. Elchin will be buried there later this month.
