NEWTON, Mass. — The Middlesex District Attorney's office released the name of second the victim of the Newton restaurant crash that killed two.
Officials confirmed that Gregory Morin, 32 of Newton, along with Eleanor Miele, 57 of Watertown, both were killed due to a car driving into the Sweet Tomatoes restaurant. Both were customers in the restaurant.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Greg was a wonderful colleague and friend to many in Boston and throughout our firm. He was a highly-skilled young lawyer and a compassionate person with incredible spirit and singular wit. Our thoughts and prayers are with Greg’s family and friends, as well as the other victims,” a statement from Hans Brigham, a managing partner of Latham & Watkins said.
The crash injured four employees: a 19-year-old female from Marshfield; a 27-year-old female from Waltham; a 34-year-old male from Dedham; and a 32-year-old male from Dedham. Three customers were also injured in the crash: a 44-year-old male from Newton; a 35-year-old female from Newton; and a 30-year-old male from Brockton. All victims were transported to area hospitals; at least three victims have been treated and released.
A Volkswagon SUV, driven by 55-year-old Brad Casler, crossed over Washington street and hit the front of Sweet Tomatoes, causing significant structural damage. The driver is still being treated for injuries.
The District Attorney said this is an open and active investigation and no charges have been filed.
