Worcester Police investigating Friday night shooting

WORCESTER, Mass. — Worcester Police are investigating after a 38-year-old was shot Friday night in Worcester.

A group of roughly 10 people flagged down a police officer around 9:45 p.m. in the area of May Street and Mason Street, telling him a woman had been shot, according to a release by police.

The officer called for backup and attempted to reach the woman, but was initially blocked by several hostile people in the crowd, the release said.

He was able to get to the 38-year-old woman and provide aid before she was brought to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating.
