Woman, teen arrested after traffic stop altercation with Wareham Police

WAREHAM, Mass. — A woman and a teen were arrested after a scuffle with police not far from a school in Wareham, according to the police department.

Jennifer Keaton, 47, was drunk when she picked up children from the high school, police said. That’s when school officials alerted police to a drunk driver because they couldn’t stop the vehicle.

Four officers were able to track down and stop the car, but police say a 17-year-old climbed out of the car and began swearing and making obscene gestures to passing cars.

Two officers told her to get back in the car, but say she attacked them by swinging her arms at them and scuffled with them on the ground.

Police say the teenage female ‘aggressively resisted arrest’ and was joined by a third person who tried to ‘interfere with the arrest.’

Keaton and the teen were both arrested.

Keaton was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, child endangerment and disturbing the peace. The 17-year-old was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
