NEW YORK — A 61-year-old woman was using her walker on a Harlem sidewalk Tuesday when she was attacked after getting into a dispute with a couple of women, police said.
Surveillance video shows the victim and two women arguing around 8:30 p.m. before one of the women pushes her to the ground and the other hits her with a cooking pot, WPIX reported.
Two men can be seen standing nearby as the victim is repeatedly pummeled. The group then runs off with the woman’s walker and a bag that contained $22 and her credit cards, WNYW reported.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. Her condition was not released.
Police said they are still trying to figure out why the group targeted the woman.
Resident Sam Brown told WCBS that it is his nephew, his wife and friends in the video.
“The lady is saying she got beat up and robbed. False,” he said.
Brown said the 61-year-old woman stabbed his nephew’s wife.
“They are the victim. She is the victim,” he said. “She was stabbed before this fight. This lady stabbed her.”
He said the family hired an attorney and planned to meet with police Friday, WCBS reported.
