BOSTON — As reports of Legionnaires' outbreaks have surfaced in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the VA Boston has diagnosed an inpatient with the disease.
The hospital announced Friday they are following strict protocols to learn whether the patient contracted Legionnaires' while in the hospital.

According to the hospital, the patient's movements inside the hospital are being traced and the water is being tested for bacteria at each of those locations.
The test results may take anywhere from seven to 14 days to return.
In the meantime, staff at VA Boston Healthcare System say they are supporting the patient and working to find the source of the bacteria.
