One dead after fiery car crash near Sagamore Beach, police say

SAGAMORE BEACH, Mass. — One person is dead after their car crashed into a tree and caught fire, according to the Bourne Police Department.

The crash happened at the intersection of Ocean Pines Drive and Old Plymouth Road near Sagamore Beach. Police received a call reporting the crash in front of 330 Old Plymouth Road at 1:30 a.m., police said.

When Bourne Police and Fire got to the scene they found the 2008 Hyundai Elantra with severe front-end damage fully engulfed in flames against a tree. When firefighters extinguished the fire, they found a driver who was pronounced dead.

The accident is under investigation.
