PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial heard more emotional and graphic testimony on Thursday from State Medical Examiner Dr. Kimberly Springer, who performed autopsies on Clancy’s three children, as prosecutors continued presenting evidence on the eighth day of trial.
Court was briefly recessed after testimony focused on Callan Clancy, Lindsay Clancy’s 8-month-old son and youngest child. The medical examiner described in detail the circumstances surrounding his death.
As the testimony unfolded, court cameras showed Clancy appearing visibly emotional and crying throughout much of the proceedings.
Later Thursday morning, jurors heard testimony from Dr. Lindsay Rosshirt, a pediatrician who treated the Clancy children while working at South Shore Medical.
Rosshirt testified the children appeared healthy and happy during her care and described Clancy as an attentive parent.
Christoper Clancy, Lindsay’s former father-in-law, was also called to the stand. He said Lindsay was a devoted mother.

Family nanny testified Wednesday
Day 8 of the trial comes after jurors on Wednesday heard emotional testimony Wednesday from a former family nanny who described life inside the Clancy household in the months before prosecutors say Clancy killed her children.
Elaine Rossi, who worked for the Clancy family for about three months in 2022, testified that Lindsay Clancy appeared devoted to her children while privately struggling with postpartum issues and sleep difficulties.
Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, is charged in the January 2023 deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan. Her defense team argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and is not criminally responsible for their deaths.
During Rossi’s testimony, Clancy was visibly emotional in the courtroom. She was seen crying several times while the former nanny spoke and remained emotional even after the testimony concluded.
Rossi told jurors she worked three days a week caring for newborn Callan Clancy from September through Thanksgiving 2022 as Lindsay prepared to return to work.
According to Rossi, Clancy confided in her that she was experiencing postpartum struggles. Rossi also testified that she was aware Clancy had difficulty sleeping and was taking prescription medications.
The testimony offered jurors a glimpse into the family’s day-to-day life months before the deaths.
Prosecutors have portrayed Clancy as controlling, manipulative and overwhelmed, arguing she wanted to escape her circumstances. But Rossi pushed back on that characterization, describing a mother who cared deeply about her children.
Rossi testified that Clancy kept a notebook with instructions about the children’s care, which she said contained nothing unusual.
When asked by defense attorney Kevin Reddington whether she considered the detailed instructions overbearing or controlling, Rossi responded that she did not.
“Did you find all of that to be overbearing?” Reddington asked.
“No, not at all,” Rossi replied.
“You didn’t find that controlling, that she was trying to get control over you?” Reddington continued
“Not at all,” Rossi said.
