BRAINTREE, Mass. — Crews are still on scene, investigating a car fire on I-93 northbound in Braintree early Friday morning that left two people injured.
The Massachusetts State Police told Boston 25 News troopers were alerted to the fire at approximately 3:20 a.m. following a motor vehicle crash on I-93 in the vicinity of the High-Occupancy Lanes. Once they arrived on scene, troopers witnessed a car fully engulfed in flames. All northbound lanes were shut down shortly after.
MSP confirmed two occupants in the car were sent to the hospital, one of the people potentially has life-threatening injuries.
The Quincy Fire Department knocked down the fire. The travel lanes were gradually reopened, with I-93 fully reopened just before 5:30 a.m.
The investigation into the cause of the car fire is still ongoing, authorities say.
