In an update to the state’s testing numbers, the Department of Public Health reported Wednesday that 31,484 new molecular tests have been administered in Massachusetts for COVID-19. Since the start of the pandemic, the state has given out 23,825,346 total molecular tests for the virus.

As of Wednesday, 110 people remained hospitalized with coronavirus statewide. Of these patients, 33 were in intensive care units and 15 were intubated. The average age of people hospitalized was 65 years old.

The state’s seven-day weighted average of positive molecular tests rose to 0.36% Wednesday, up from 0.33% Tuesday, and up from 0.29% Monday.

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Tuesday that there was one new death among people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. That pushed the total number of deaths in the commonwealth among people with confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 17,629.

No MA towns in ‘red’ or ‘yellow’ zones again this week

For the third week in a row, no towns in Massachusetts were listed in the red high-risk zone nor the yellow moderate-risk zone for COVID-19 in the state Department of Health’s weekly town-by-town statistics for the novel coronavirus.

Three weeks ago was the first week no community had been listed in the red zone after the number of high-risk communities in MA had continued to drop over the weeks. All MA communities are now listed in either the green or gray zones.

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Thursday that there were four new deaths among people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. That pushed the total number of deaths in the commonwealth among people with confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 17,622.

DPH also reported 78 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. Since the pandemic began in March 2020, the commonwealth has seen 663,478 total confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including an estimated 1,636 active cases.

State hits vaccine milestone

The state has reached its goal of 4.1 million residents vaccinated, Gov. Charlie Baker tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

This comes as another mass vaccination site is closing down.

Baker says the state is still working to get a vaccine for everyone who wants one.

DESE reports 53 students, 5 teachers had COVID cases in last week

The state’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education reported Thursday that 53 students have reported positive cases of COVID-19 in the last week. That’s a decrease from the 85 cases among students reported a week ago. All of those students had building access within the last seven days of their positive test reports.

Additionally, DESE said that 5 teachers have reported positive cases of COVID-19 between June 10 and June 16, a decrease from 18 a week ago. Those teachers also had building access within the last seven days of their positive test reports.

There were an estimated 735,000 students and 140,000 teachers in public school buildings in the last seven days, meaning that 0.01% of students and >0.01% of teachers who have been in district schools this past week have reported COVID-19 cases.

Number of fully vaccinated individuals in MA eclipses 4 million

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Tuesday that the number of fully vaccinated individuals in the commonwealth has eclipsed 4 million.

The number of people who have received either both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in MA is 4,003,540, an increase of more than 33,000 people since yesterday.

No Mass. town ‘in the red’ this week

No communities in Massachusetts were listed as high-risk for coronavirus, according to data released by the state’s Department of Public Health. Last week, just Tisbury on Martha’s Vineyard was designated as a “red” community, or high-risk for transmitting coronavirus.

The state has consistently seen the number of high-risk communities decline in the last few weeks, with the number of towns dropping from two to one a week ago and down to none Thursday.

DESE reports 117 students, 13 teachers had COVID cases in last week

The state’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education reported Thursday that 117 students have reported positive cases of COVID-19 in the last week. That’s a decrease from the 229 cases among students reported a week ago. All of those students had building access within the last seven days of their positive test reports.

Additionally, DESE said that 13 teachers have reported positive cases of COVID-19 between May 27 and June 2, a decrease from 21 a week ago. Those teachers also had building access within the last seven days of their positive test reports.

There were an estimated 735,000 students and 140,000 teachers in public school buildings in the last seven days, meaning that 0.02% of students and 0.01% of teachers who have been in district schools this past week have reported COVID-19 cases.

DPH reports 12 deaths, 179 new cases in two-day update

The state’s Department of Public Health reported Tuesday that there were 12 new deaths among people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts. That pushed the total number of deaths in the commonwealth among people with confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus to 17,520.

The numbers DPH reported Tuesday were a reflection of the last two days, as the department did not publish the state’s daily COVID-19 statistics on Monday due to Memorial Day.
